Coconut Oil Detox
By simply living our day to day lives, we fill our bodies with lots of harmful toxins. These toxins can be found in the food we eat, the air we breathe, stress from work, and the emotional ebb and flow of life.
These toxins may run you down or even accumulate and affect your health down the line. The lifestyle choices we make may throw our body off balance; however, there are things we can do to restore this balance and to enhance our health.
Sometimes we need to take a time out and take the time to heal and cleanse our body. Many people invest in pricey cleansing systems to rid themselves of any impurities, however, there are more natural and inexpensive ways you can get the benefit of a cleanse without breaking the bank.
Extra Virgin Coconut oil, considered an effective cleansing food, is a popular method of detox.
Why Extra Virgin Coconut Oil?
Extra Virgin Coconut oil is not only a powerful cleansing food, but it is also a fantastic source of natural energy. Comprised largely of medium-chain fatty acids, this superfood travels straight to the liver to be used as energy.
Virgin coconut oil is very different from coconut oil that is refined, bleached and deodorized. The processing of the meat is very different and the properties of each oil are different as well.
This kind of fat is especially beneficial when committing to a cleanse since it provides you with the energy you need when you are consuming less food during the cleanse period.
Coconut oil is not only believed to flush out toxins, but also microbial and parasitic infections as well. Most of our immune system is located in our guts, so by participating in a coconut oil cleanse, you can give your digestive system a break.
During a cleanse you give your immune system time to eliminate any toxic buildup. It is also believed that by doing a coconut oil cleanse, you may help to reduce your blood sugar and cholesterol.
Four Conditions Improved with a Coconut Cleanse
People like to participate in a detox to remove toxins from their body and to get a fresh start. By adding coconut oil into the mix, you speed up your body’s healing time and combat certain conditions.
1) Viruses
Coconut oil is known to contain antiviral properties. Lauric acid, a large component of coconut oil, is converted into monolaurin once consumed in the body. Monolaurin helps to eliminate and prevent infection from lipid-coated viruses like influenza and herpes.
2) Digestion
As mentioned above, reducing food intake during the cleansing process gives your stomach a much needed break and gives it time to heal and remove toxic buildup.
The healing properties of coconut oil is believed to address such debilitating conditions as Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Those suffering from the medical mystery known as Leaky Gut Syndrome may find some relief from some it’s symptoms as gas, cramps, bloating, food sensitivities, aches, and pains.
3) Candida
Candida appears to be a modern problem that is effecting our population at epidemic levels. Candida is a common yeast-like parasitic fungus. When one experiences an overgrowth of candida, the immune system can be compromised and this fungus can cause disease and infection.
When a candida infection takes over, people may suffer from a number of unpleasant side effects such as fatigue, headache, achy muscles and joints, digestive upset, sugar cravings, depression, anxiety, memory loss, mood swings, etc.
Fortunately, by doing a coconut oil cleanse, you can fight the candida overgrowth in your body. Coconut oil is low in carbohydrates and void of sugar, causing all the candida in your system to starve off.
If you suffer from a candida overgrowth and partake in a coconut oil cleanse, you may notice an improvement in your symptoms such as eczema, acne, fatigue, sugar cravings, poor concentration, and chronic sinus infections.
4) Fungal Infections
Our bodies are not just prone to candida overgrowth, but other fungal infections as well. When there is an imbalance of bacteria and fungal organisms in your body, you may experience such infections as ring worm and jock itch.
Coconut oil contains many antifungal properties such as lauric acid and caprylic acid, which cleanses your system of these fungal overgrowths. Many people report experiencing a complete recovery from these fungal infections after the cleansing period.
